Really?
Gloves off Now
About 60 White South Africans expected to arrive at Dulles Airport next week as refugees under Trump executive order
The Afrikaners are expected to arrive on a State Department-chartered plane Monday, with federal and Virginia officials preparing to receive them in a ceremonial news conference, according to documents and emails obtained by The Washington Post, as well as three government officials familiar with the preparations.
I was going to write that we’re in uncharted waters.
But, alas, these waters were charted over 100 years ago off Ft. Sumter. The waters of racial division and unequal rights, were dredged and deepened for the safe passage of the Constitution in steering the future of this daring experiment in valuing the worth of everyone, regardless of station or race.
While I have recognized the racialism in the Republican Party since Nixon’s so-called southern strategy, I have, naively, assumed it had to remain at least subtle enough to pretend to be guided by the principles which few would dare openly defy.
When I read that Washington Post headline, it wrenched my stomach.
The world knows the history of South Africa. Apartheid, impoverished Black townships. Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, celebrated for courageous leadership in ending the ruthless policy, who bent over backwards to preserve fairness, the rights of the White minority as the Black majority assumed its rightful place.
Well, people, the time has come. There can be no clearer, nastier demonstration of this administration’s intention to reverse the hard won, still unfinished battle to fulfill the promises we’ve made to each other.
We know our congressional leaders haven’t the stomach to assume their proper role, and stand against the outrages that have become the daily diet of this government.
That leaves it up to us.
I am an old man. My energy is waning. So long as I have breath, and a keyboard, I will join with you, and all those whose dream of America is being besmirched, to demand the return of justice and fairness.
The administration has removed the gloves of racism.
We The People must get off our stool in the corner, and meet the weak bullies.

Bravo! I have been participating in local demonstrations but it's time to be more robust in our response. I will join 10s of thousands of other good Americans on June 14 in nationwide demonstrations protesting Donald Trump and his Soviet-style military birthday celebration. I will do this before Trump unleashes the military to start snatching American citizens and putting us in detention centers, aka concentration camps.
