We grew up in a milieu where our movies, books, mythology repeatedly played out threats to our democracy that failed as good triumphed over evil. It’s baked into who we are individually and collectively. That it seems to be coming apart or IS coming apart is being treated as alarmist which suggests we just organize for the next election and bet on winning. Our denial that we are more than late to act fails to recognize how much is already lost. The call for regular order is laughable for those who are engaged in a full blown take down of all norms by whatever means necessary. This will not end well employing current strategies.

Your distress mirrors that of so many others on line. It is surreal and I fear placing our hope in the 2026 midterms is naive. Trump (his team) has done all this in less than a year.

Good, sickening summary of where we Americans stand. Who are these evil billionaires who just walked in and took over through Citizens United? When judge McAfee in Georgia just cancelled the prosecution of 47 for his call to the Governor of Georgia to 'find' 11,000 more votes for Trump in 2020 - a call that was recorded - I knew that evil was now fully in charge in our country.

The Supreme Court has lost its way. We need a few more Ketanji Brown Jacksons to step forward and out vote the bums the GOP has glued into place on the Court, Then us grass roots types must vote the present House and Senate out in 2026, and start the process of rebuilding America.

Is love stronger than hate? I truly hope so. Will our land of the free survive this horrible debacle? I pray that it will. Voices of compassion and courage ring so much louder than voices that would divide. How I long for a new sunrise.
