Dashed Hopes
Seems Like Years Ago
Remember this?
The euphoria so may of us felt when we thought the way had been cleared to take our democracy and economy to a new level.
Just not enough of us, as it turned out.
Easy to make fun of our naivete’, if that’s what it was. It’s hard now to grasp how incredibly, astonishingly, close we came.
My point in putting this up now is to remind us that we must keep a vision of hope and caring alive as we face what can feel like an onslaught on all we hold dear.
There will be hard days ahead, when we want to turn aside.
We must not. Kamala didn’t win the election (almost did), but she showed us what it can look like for our vision to take on human flesh.

The barrage of relentless assaults, not only on legitimate legislative structures but also on ethical decency and simple acts of kindness, sit inside my bones. It is very hard to muster any degree of optimism when we consider that this man might actually dismantle democracy.
It’s wonderful to get this reminder from you who I admire . And also knowing that you are as stressed as I am helps.
