Close Call
Good Night Irene
When the latest rains came everyone in Vermont held our breath as they predicted rain like we had 12 years ago in Tropical Storm Irene.
We watched as the pond water rose to within a foot of the dam wing wall just below our house.
In Irene it breached the wall, flooded the road and did terrible damage to the village below.
The rain suddenly stopped 2 hours earlier than predicted and the water began to recede. You can see in the photo it has already dropped a foot in the first hour.
Maybe I already wrote you about this? My mind is a jumble as we wonder what vagaries of climate change are ahead.
I love it here. Love to think we can stick it out for the duration. Of my life, that is.
Our children? Grandchildren?
